Shipman, coordinator of MLK Day @ UP is a mother, listener, teacher, student, yogi, advocate, mediator, and bridge builder. She challenges herself to move through the world and conversations with integrity, honesty, and ease. Her background centers around cultivating relationships and building networks. She has a BA in Communications and an MA in Social & Public Policy with a focus on Conflict Mediation & Peace Studies. Over the years she has worked in a variety of fields and positions, including entrepreneur, banking, film + video NS medical research. She is the Event Coordinator for the Annual Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit. And works as a trained mediator and a cultural awareness facilitator, she conducts justice-centered workshops for private, public, and nonprofit organizations.
